Overcoming Mediocrity - Volume IDYNAMIC WOMEN - These stories are meant to inspire and encourage women to realize their true potential.
Shirley Swanson is an artist, mom, grandma, and the “Bra Lady”. She has been active with social justice and community enrichment organizations. She has been a commercial and computer graphics artist, stay-at-home mom, and Special Education teacher. The valuable lessons in life that were instilled as her younger son dealt with a critical illness have made a very difficult time easier. Learning to love more deeply, listen well, empathize, seek support when needed, accept gifts and support as offered, be calm and flexible, give back, and take life one step at a time while cherishing it all are skills she treasures.
Shirley is in direct sales, holding Bra Parties and providing customized bra fittings to uplift women. This flexible career has allowed her to “be there” for her family, especially for her son Josh. It has provided a wonderful career path, support, and sanity over the rough times her family experienced recently.
Shirley is an Independent Representative for Essential Bodywear LLC and is a member of the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln Park Chapter of DPWN, the Dynamic Professional Women’s Network. She lives in the Chicago area.
