Overcoming Mediocrity - Volume IX

Rebecca Wright

Rebecca discovered, while feeling alone in a busy world and desperately seeking connections, that she is a connector. She often unknowingly inspires others to indulge in their interests and passions and has dedicated her time and career to helping others.

Rebecca is an experienced traveler. She does not like to sit still. Rebecca has visited and spent time in 42 of the 50 United States. She is looking forward to having visited all 50 states, before turning 50 years old. She has resided in seven states and each of the continental US time zones, including Alaska. After discovering a love of international travel, Ecuador quickly became a favorite and the most frequently visited. Rebecca’s most recent trip to Ecuador was to volunteer with the Awaken Foundation, a program that provides a safe environment for youth impacted by incarceration. Her work with Awaken has continued beyond the time in Ecuador, since she is now providing administrative and fundraising support for the foundation.

Rebecca recently completed a second term with AmeriCorps. She first served as a VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) in Great Falls, Montana with the Alliance For Youth,  helping the community’s vulnerable youth and families. Her most recent service as a State and National Volunteer was with the International Rescue Committee, providing financial literacy education to youth who have experienced foster care.

Rebecca earned a degree in criminal justice and spent several years working in law enforcement as a surveillance investigator. After transitioning to child welfare investigations, she was quickly promoted within the organization. Rebecca now works as a child welfare consultant and collaborates with various equine programs, including the Horses and Humans Research Foundation.

Rebecca enjoys sharing a kind and gentle smile with others and strives to be of service to others, while living an authentic life honoring connection.

My Story

Alone in a Busy World

As a young child, Rebecca suffered a loss that would have a deep impact on how she perceived her place in the world. Constantly seeking inclusion, Rebecca lived an active life sharing experiences and moments but never feeling connected. Finding her way in the world focused on being of value in the workplace and among social communities kept her from seeing just how valuable she had become to those closest to her.
