Overcoming Mediocrity - Volume VIII

FEARLESS WOMEN

Michelle Jenks

Michelle Jenks is the founder and Executive Director of The FUSIoN Project, a non-profit (501c3) organization that builds self-esteem in junior high school girls, with the intent to empower them and diminish the potential of victimization. She openly shares that she didn’t set out to start a program for junior high girls. Her desire was to help women who had been sex trafficked. As she heard more and more about this horrific epidemic, she felt compelled to join the fight. After years of searching for her place in that world, she was awakened one night with the idea that she could do something to prevent more girls from needing recovery. Since the average age of someone who is sex trafficked is 12-14, she chose to work with that age group—junior high. She can no longer imagine her life without these amazing girls. Michelle has long been concerned about the victimization of women and girls. She is driven to make an impact in as many lives as she can in her lifetime. She combines skills she has acquired through her varied background that includes being a high school youth group director, co-creator and developer of a bi-annual teen convention, volunteer coordinator for two rape crisis centers, corporate trainer and speaker, entrepreneur and church consultant. When Michelle is not speaking to groups, leading The FUSIoN Project programs or consulting, she chooses to spend her time with her family. She has been married to her husband Roger for 24 years. They love to go on adventures and hike around the United States. They have a total of five children and nine grandchildren, whom they cannot imagine life without.

My Story

We All Have a Story

Everyone has a story. We all have specific moments in our history, in which our identity gets rooted. This is the story of one of those moments for a young girl who was highly competent with a low sense of worth. The story could have defined her, but it becomes one of the catalysts for the girl to find her self-worth, find her call and change the world, by becoming a leader and influencer of young girls and women around the country.
